In response to the escalating digital threats facing strata communities, CHU Underwriting Agencies has integrated cyber fraud coverage into its standard residential strata insurance policies.
This enhancement provides up to $50,000 for losses resulting from social engineering fraud, a prevalent form of cybercrime where perpetrators impersonate trusted contacts to manipulate payment instructions.
Steve Tchepak, CHU's Head of Underwriting, emphasised the growing relevance of cyber threats to strata communities. He noted that such risks are no longer confined to large organisations but are increasingly affecting everyday transactions, including invoices, levy notices, and supplier communications. By incorporating this coverage, CHU aims to bolster the resilience of strata communities against evolving cyber risks.
This proactive measure reflects CHU's commitment to adapting its insurance solutions to meet the changing needs of strata owners and managers. By anticipating emerging risks and providing appropriate coverage, CHU continues to support brokers, strata managers, and owners with solutions that evolve alongside the environment they operate in.
For strata communities, this development underscores the importance of recognising and mitigating cyber risks. Implementing robust digital security practices and ensuring comprehensive insurance coverage are essential steps in safeguarding against potential cyber incidents.
